Abstract

Different amount of Nano-Ni powder was added into Fe/WC powder for spray. The coating was produced on a Q235 substrate by subsonic flame spraying. The surface morphology, microstructure and worn surface morphologies of the coating were analyzed by using optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The phase composition of the coating was determined by X-ray diffraction. The wear properties of the coating were investigated on an MM-W1-wear-tester under wet friction condition. The micro-hardness of the coating was evaluated on an HXD-1000TM micro-hardness instrument. The results show that Nano-Ni powder could refine the microstructure of the coating and improve the compactness of the coating. With the increasing proportion of Nano-Ni powder, the mechanical properties of the coating were improved. In the process of the coating preparation, some new phases, such as Fe-Ni and CeNi3,were created and played an active role in improving the microstructure and the mechanical properties of the coating.
