Abstract

For comprehensively analyzing the working mechanism of pile-soil-embankment and lowering the complexity of calculation, an analytic solution taking into account the soil arching effect and the characteristics of pile-soil interaction was proposed. This analytic solution takes the components of the pile-supported embankment as an integrated system. Based on the static balance among the pile, soil and embankment, the basic differential equations of the displacements of pile and soil were deduced. Considering the compatibility condition of stress and strain, the parameters of axial pile stress, soil stress among piles, pile friction, settlements of pile and soil were obtained, and the effects of the area replacement ratio, the module of pile, the pile diameter, the rigidity of soil and the coefficient of the pile friction on the settlement and the load ratio were studied. Results indicate that the calculation process of this analytic solution is simple, and that the calculation results agree well with the measured values.
