Abstract
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of location and cryocoagulation of retinal holes by microscope in external retinal detachment surgery.Methods Twenty-four patients (24 eyes) of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment, which were examined of location, size and scope of holes before surgery , were performed external route microsurgery.The eyeball was controlled and made the holes at their lowest levels by pulling eye muscles during an operation.Results Twenty-three cases got complete retinal reattachment.One eye got reattachment after an additional scleral buckling. The visual acuity was improved in twenty eyes, the same as that of preoperation in three eye, and lowered in one eyes.Conclusion It is simple, easy observable and located accurately to perform externalroute microsurgery for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment, and the effect is satisfactory.
