Abstract

Liaozhai Zhiyi,a novel mainly about foxes and ghosts,is closely related with Buddhism.Buddhist attitudes such as reincarnation reincarnated,the immortality of the soul and Karma have a great influence on the sources of materials,thoughts,plots and the author's ideas.Meanwhile,Pu Songling made use of Buddhist concepts including sankharas impermanence,void laws and transmigration to create characters,thus showing the profound influence of Buddhist culture on creating characters.
