Abstract

Objective To explore the image characteristics of pulmonary embolism(PE)in computed tomographic pulmonary angiography(CTPA) with multi-slice spiral CT(MSCT)and evaluate the effect of CTPA with MSCT in the diagnosis of PE.Methods 12 cases of PE patients' image data were retrospectively analyzed. All the cases underwent scanning of Siemens Somatom Sensatom 64 MSCT plus intensified scanning.Post-treatment was adopted by using multi-planar reconstr ction(MPR),maximum intensity projection(MIP) and volume rendering(VR).Results The display rate of the 12 cases from the pulmonary trunk to pulmonary artery segment was 100%.The display rate of sub-segment and the grade Ⅲ pulmonary artery was about 80%.Plain scanning presented consolidation,ground-glass opacity and wedge-shaped opacity.Intensification resulted in filling defect with other indirect signs in different areas and in various forms. Conclusion As a non-traumatic detecting technique, computed tomographic pulmonary angiography with multi-slice spiral CT is a fast, effective and reliable means, which should be recommended for its high diagnostic value.
