Abstract

The effects of different ratios of female and male on the development of Laminaria female gametophyte were studied. The result shows that the development rates of female gametophyte are similar in the ratios of one to one and two to one. The development rates are both over 70% on the twentieth day and the young sporophytes are normal. For ratios of five to one, ten to one and twenty to one, the development rates of female gametophyte are lower. There are some unfertilized eggs and some young sporophytes are abnormal in these three groups. With the increasing of ratio of female and male, the number of unfertilized eggs is larger.
