Abstract

Objective To evaluate the relativity of blood homocysteine level and intracranial and extracranial artery stenosis of cerebral infarction patients.Methods There were 92 patients with cerebral infarction who were treated in our department from June 2011 to August 2012.They were underwent blood homocysteine and brain CTA examination.According to CTA,They were divided into intracranial and extracranial artery with or without stenosis group,the blood Hcy levels were compared between groups.According to blood homocysteine level,They were divided into hyperhomocystinemia and normal homocysteine group,the rate of cranial artery stenosis were compared.Results Intracranial and extracranial artery stenosis group had significantly higher blood Hcy levels than those without intracranial and extracranial artery stenosis group(P0.05),the levels of blood Hcy of pure extracranial artery stenosis group Hcy level and simple intracranial stenosis group showed no significant difference(P 0.05).Compared with the normal blood Hcy group,hyperhomocystinemia group showed higher rate of cranial artery stenosis(P0.05).Conclusion The blood level of Hcy and cranial atherosclerotic stenosis are closely related,hyperhomocystinemia is a risk factor for the cranial stenosis and no selectivity for intracranial or extracranial artery injury.
