Abstract
AIM To study the relationship between Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection and gastroduodenal mucosal blood flow(GDMBF) in patients with peptic ulcer (PU). METHODS The GDMBFs in the non_lesion areas(NLA) of cardia, body, antrum and the ulcer and gastritis lesion areas(LA) were determined with laser Doppler flowmetry in patients undergoing endoscopic examination. RESULTS The GDMBF on cardia, body of stomach and antrum in the NLA was 1 68±0 55V, 1 70±0 42V and 1 35±0 37V,respectively. GDMBF of gastric antrum was the lowest. The PU patients who were accompanied by Hp infection had markedly lower GDMBFs in ulcer lesion and in all other NLA parts of stomach than those without Hp infection. CONCLUSION Hp infection can result in decrease of GDMBF, causing ulcer healing delay and recurrence.
