Original Modality and Their Evolvement of Wu(Wizard,Wizardry) and Wu(Dance)

Abstract

Coming into being along with the aboriginal culture,“Wu(wizard)” gradually changed its meaning from headman to wizard whol ly in charge of sacrificing ghosts and gods.Thus the originally uniform meaning and function of “Wu(wizard)” and “Wang(king)” become different.“Wu(dnace)” ,cognated with “Wu(wizard)”, also changed its function from wizardry of declig hting gods and spirits to that of delighting human.The function and evolvement o f “Wu(dance)” in the hitory have provided cricumstantial evidence to expurgate the evolvement of Wu(wizard).
