Abstract

Objective To observe the relationship between the trigeminal nerve and their adjacent vessels in cerebellopontine angle(CPA)by simulating actual operation procedure. Methods The microsurgical anatomy was performed under microscope about the trigeminal nerve on forty sides of twenty adult cadavic heads fixed in formalin and infused with red gelation. Results The probability of MVC had no difference for the trigeminal nerve between left and right side(P0.05).The angle of the facial nerve to the sagittal plane, coronal plane and horizontal plane averaged 12°±3°,75°±5° and 9°±3° respectively. Conclusion There is close relationship between the trigeminal nerve and the surroundings, which is significant to the microvascular decompression(MVD)in cerebellopontine angle.
