Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy and analyze the cost-effectiveness of two schemes for treatment of patients with chronic hepatitis B. Methods Totally 86 patients with chronic hepatitis B were enrolled in this observation and divided into treatment group consisted of 45 patients and treated with interferon and control group consisted of 42 patients and treated with lamivudine. Results The negative conversion rates and normalized rate in the treatment group were 77.8%, 62.2% and 82.2%, respectively; they were 65.9%, 39.0% and 78.0% in the control group, respectively. The unit costs for achieve the above results in the group treated with interferon were 235 yuan, 293yuan and 222 yuan, respectively, while it were 93 yuan, 157 yuan and 79 yuan in the control group treated with lamivudine. Conclusion The two schemes are effective for treatment of patients with chronic hepatitis B and the effect of interferon is superior to lamivudine but its cost is two times that of lamivudine.
