Abstract
Objective To explore the correlation between serum uric acid(SUA) and urinary albumin to creatinine ratio(UACR) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods 253 diabetic hospitalized patients were enrolled into the study.Total population, male and female patients were divided into group I(292.0 μmol/L) and hyperuricemia group II(≥292.0 μmol/L) according to median level of SUA.Prevalence of albuminuria between the two groups were compared. The total population were divided into 4 groups according to the SUA quartile to compare the prevalences of albuminuria among them. All patients were divided into normal group, microalbuminuria group and macroalbuminuria group according to UACR,SUA were compared among the groups. Results The prevalence of albuminuria in group I and group II patients were 28.0% and 53.9%,respectively(P0.01),in male group were 17.2%,53.2%(P0.01).In female group were 34.3%,55.1%(P0.05).The prevalence of albuminuria of the 4 groups were 27.0%,29.0%,44.6%,63.5%(P0.01).The serum uric acid levels of normoalbuminuria group, microalbuminuria group and macroalbuminuria group were(289.0±89.7) μmol/L,(317.3±117.2) μmol/L,(395.0±87.8)μmol/L respectively, which showed a statistic difference(P0.01).The odds ratio for albuminuria for every 1mg/dl increment of serum uric acid was 1.004(P=0.011).Conclusion The serum uric acid level is closely associated with the accurance of albuminuria in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
