Abstract

Chinese garden, with a profound and intensive culture, is the earlist ancestor in the world of the gardens all over the world. With introduction of the Western regular Garden to China, the classical Chinese garden plunge into a crisis position, and gradually disappear from the eyes of the world. We must pay more attention to the issues on how to succeed the inheritance of Chinese classic gardens, and how to develop the Chinese classic gardens. This article will analyze the two major obstacles in inheriting the classic gardens for the modern landscape architects, classic literature and painting, from the aspect of classic gardens’ characteristics.
