Abstract

It has been three centuries since the rapid urbanization of human settlements started.During this process, with the introduction of new interpretations as well as new paradigms, this type of urbanization is keeping evolving worldwide. In China, the strategy of New Urbanization has been introduced after almost three decades of hyper-growth of industrialization as well as urbanization. This strategy echoes society's calling for quality-oriented and human-centric urbanization approach. However,New Urbanization is still a very conceptual strategic framework, which needs more elaboration over time. Both new norms with worldwide acceptance and practical know-how with Chinese characteristics are pivotal for the pursuit of a successful transition of China's urbanization. This paper also suggests that the New Urbanization in China holds more profound value as a solution to ensure China's peaceful and scientific development while incurring extra resource and environment related burden to the world, which was the usual phenomenon when a big country pursues its major breakthrough in urbanization.
