Analysis of the Relationship between Xing Qu and Qi Xiang

As one of the main components constituting Yan Yu's Poetry Notes system,the account of Xing Qu deals with such problems as the properties and fundamental characteristics of art,what is poetry and the common aesthetic features that all the good poems should share. In addition,Yan Yu constructed the concept of Qi Xiang,which embodies the spirit of poetry. Yan Yu once asserted that the devices of composing poetry included system,dynamics,Qi Xiang,Xing Qu,and syllable. He thus invented Qi Xiang and Xing Qu,two artistic approaches to poetry creativity,which are comparable and contrasted with each other.
