Abstract

The social feature of language is what is chiefly studied in sociolinguistics, one key player in which is linguistic variation,a common phenomenon in literature. The complexity of linguistic variation adds difficulty to the translation of such works.Applying sociolinguistics and context theory, this paper tries to study the translation approach to linguistic variation in literature from the level of pronunciation, vocabulary, syntax and style.A new approach open to discuss is to employ the theory of dynamic and multidimensional context.
