A Study on Housing Affordability of Urban Residents in China

This paper studies the housing affordability of urban residents in China.Firstly,we measure the housing affordability using the house price to income ratio,housing affordability index and residual income approach.Then we make a comparative research on China′s urban residents′ housing affordability from three aspects,that is,historical change,regional difference and income stratum difference.The results suggest that the income capability of the lowest-and low-income strata cannot meet their housing demands in the housing market.Housing affordability of the middle-and low-income groups demonstrates a falling trend,and the gap of housing affordability among regions is persistently widened.
