Abstract

The dynamic compaction under 10?000?kN·m energy level of different soil parameters and weight, fall depth, and diameter of hammer is numerically simulated with the finite difference method. The effects of soil parameters, weight, fall depth, diameter of hammer on dynamic compaction are analyzed and the mechanics of high energy level dynamic compaction are synthetically discussed. The results show that:(1) the ranking of the influence degree of soil parameters on compaction is φ,ρ,ν,Es,c when the compacting settlement for the first hammering is used as the index;(2) the single compacting settlement decreases with increasing hammering times under the 10?000?kN·m energy level;(3) the single and accumulated compacting settlement increase with decreasing hammer diameter under a constant energy level;(4) for the first hammering, the single compacting settlement increases with the hammer weight and(5) with the increase of hammering times, the differences of single hammer compacting settlement with varying hammer weights are reduced and those of accumulated compacting settlement increase.
