Abstract
The understanding of the value of scientific journals and the obstacles in the way of their development is on the basis of the understanding of academic contributor's preference on the targeted journals, the evaluation of journals, the interest in reading and the criteria of choosing a journal. A survey on the previously mentioned topics reveals that authors show strong interest in the journals with short publishing cycle, high impact factor and wide recognition. Foreign journals are often the targets of contributors for they seek the journals that publish new, comprehensive and current information. This revelation gives the way to the development of Chinese scientific journals so that leading scholars in specialized fields can be attracted to such journals to offer high-quality contributions.
