Treatment of severe hemorrhoids with the procedure for prolapse and hemorrhoids with stapler

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy of the procedure for prolapse and hemorrhoids with stapler(PPH)for the surgical treatment of hemorrhoids disease.Methods:Forty-two patients with hemorrhoids(6 grade Ⅱ,28 grade Ⅲ,and 8 grade Ⅳ)were treated according to PPH.Results:The operating time was 10-20 minutes,mean hospital stay was 2-5 days,and mean duration of inability to work was 5.5 days.Only six patients required analgesic.The 4-week follow-up showed that 36 cases(85.7%)were fully satisfied and 6 cases(14.3%)were somewhat satisfied,and there were no severe complications.Conclusion:PPH has many merits including safety,effectiveness,less trauma,minor postoperative pain,less complications,shorter time to return to work,less influence on the anorectal function and the like,but its long-term effect need to be confirmed.
