Abstract
The dynamics of sand desertification degree in north Xianghuang Banner,Inner Mongolia since 2000 were monitored with the help of images and data processing function of ERDAS.The results showed that during the monitoring period,none and slight desertification lands increased by 262.7 km2,the moderate and serious desertification lands have decreased by 220.6 km2 and 42.1 km2 respectively.The reversed desertification lands mainly came from the moderate and serious desertification types;the newly increased desertification land mainly happened in the slight and moderate desertification lands.Overall,the trend of desertification has been reversed and the whole environment has been improved.
