Abstract

The research progress on utilization of heterosis for rice indica and japonica subspecies in recent years was reviewed from the following aspects, including indirect utilization of heterosis for indica and japonica subspecies, the direct application of indica-japonica hybrids F1, the limiting factors and countermeasures for production use of indica and japonica subspecies hybrid rice. Simultaneously, the suggestions for breeding indica-japonica hybrid rice were put forward.
