Abstract
Objective To investigate the correlation between hyperhomocysteinaemia(Hhcy)and ischemic stroke in young women on ischemic stroke in young women. Methods A case-control study was performed.A total of 43 young women with acute ischemic stroke who were admitted to the Department of Neurology in Hebei Provincial People's Hospital from January 2011 to April 2012 were enrolled in the study. The levels of homocysteine(Hcy)in serum were detected and compared with those of 45 young women without cerebrovascular disease who hospitalized during the same period. The data were analyzed by univariate analysis. The women in stroke group were divided into 3 subgroups according to the area of cerebral infarction, and the differences of serum levels of Hcy among the three subgroups were analyzed by one-factor analysis of variance. Results The serum levels of Hcy in stroke group were significantly higher than those in control group(P0.05),however,there were no significant differences in the serum levels of Hcy among the three subgroups(P0.05).Conclusion HHcy is an important risk factor for ischemic stroke in young women,so the detection of s erum levels of Hcy should be regarded as a routine inspection item for young women with acute ischemic stroke.
