THE ANALYSIS OF PRED SYSTEM AND THE STUDY ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN HENAN PROVINCE

Considering the particularity of PRED in Henan Province and applying the general framework of PRED regional sustainable development indicators,the authors have designed a four-level indicator system for the assessment of regional sustainable development in Henan.The hierarchy system includes three first-level indexes(e.g.social,economic and environmental sustainable development) and 9,41 and 69 indexes at 2nd,3rd and 4th level respectively.The four levels of indicators for all regions in Henan are calculated and the characteristics of regional PRED are generalized.In addition,Zhengzhou,as the capital of Henan Province and the leading city of the Central Megalopolis of China,are analyzed particularly.It is found that the ability of the sustainable development of Zhengzhou needs to be strengthened from every aspect,which will make the city groups in central China become an organic group and boost the sustainable development of the province and the surrounding regions.The authors argue that the fundamental issue of the sustainable development in Henan Province is the pressure of population and the possible solution depends on long-term development and utilization of the labor and talent resources reasonably.Several strategies and tactics on population control,human resources development,natural resources exploitation,environmental protection and urbanization are suggested.
