Abstract

In this paper the influence of choice of the current quark mass on the properties of strange stars is studied by using the effective mass bag model to describe quark matter. The numerical analysis shows that with the increase of the current quark mass, the increasement of the number density of down quark and decreasement of the number density of strange quark become bigger at low total baryon number density;the equation of state of the strange quark matter softens, the maximum mass and the corresponding radius deccrease. The maximum mass of the star decreases from 1.38 M⊙ to 1.32 M⊙ and the corresponding radius of the star ranges from 8.0 km to 7.64 km with the increase of the current mass of the strange quark from 90 MeV to 200 MeV.
