Comparative analysis of early surgical and non-surgical treatment for sciatic nerve injury due to injection in child

Objective To comparatively analyze the early surgical and non-surgical treatment for sciatic nerve injury due to injection in child.Methods Eighty-four pediatric patients of sciatic nerve injury due to injection were divided into two groups:groupⅠ(n=48)underwent early non-surgical treatment including physical therapy and neurotrophymedication,groupⅡ(n=36)underwent early surgery within 3 to 21 days after injury.Results In groupⅠ,complete recovery was observed in 26 cases within 6 months,and basic recovery in 18 cases within 1 year,and partial recovery in 4 cases even more than 1 year,the over all rate of complete recovery was 54.2% and basic recovery was 37.5%.In groupⅡ,complete recovery observed in 28 cases with in 6 months,and basic recovery in 8 cases within 1 year,the over all rate of complete recovery was 77.8% and basic recovery was 22.2%.Conclusions Early surgical treatmenthas positive impacton the recovery of sciatic nerve injury due to injection in child.
