Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of cyclosporine A on expression of iNOS and apoptosis after spinal cord injury in rats. Methods One hundred and eight SD mice were divided randomly into injury group,CsA treated group and controlgroup. An experimental rat model of acute spinal cord injury was established. The expressions of iNOS in the rat spinal cord was detected by immunohistochemistry staining, and apoptotic cells in the in the tissue sections were tested by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end labeling(TUNEL)method. The expression of iNOS was analyzed quantitatively, and the apoptotic index was evaluated. Results There was statistically significant difference in the expression of iNOS,and apoptotic index among injury group,CsA treated group and control group. Conclusion CsA depress significantly the expression of iNOS and apoptosis after spinal cord injury, and relieve the secondary spinal cord injury.
