Abstract

Objective:To investigate the expression of Nav1.8 in rat dorsal root ganglion(DRG) neurons under different(culture) conditions. Methods:By use of RT-PCR we observed the role of different blood serum and exogenous nerve growth factor(NGF) on the expression of Nav1.8 in rat DRG neurons. Results:NGF treatment can significantly upregulate the expression of Nav1.8 in the FBS+NGF group and HS+NGF group compared with the FBS and HS groups, while the Nav1.8 mRNA level showed no significant deference between FBS and HS groups. Conclusion:Exogenous NGF can upregulate the expression of(Nav1.8) in cultured rat DRG neuron, while serum of FBS or HS do not affect the growth of the neuron and the expression of Nav1.8.
