Abstract

The study of engine performance and emissions has been carried out in Toyota 8A gasoline engine fuelled with gasoline/dimethoxymethane blends. The experimental results show that the effective brake fuel consumption is increased while the gasoline equivalent fuel consumption is decreased and the engine thermal efficiency is improved compared with those of gasoline fuel.Meanwhile, the exhaust CO and HC will decrease with increase of oxygenate in fuel blends. However, addition of DMM in gasoline has little influence on NO_x emission.
