Abstract
Objective To elucidate the status of hepatitis B virus infection in the non-local workers in Dongguan by analyzing the expression of hepatitis B antigens and antibodies for HBV, and to provide the basis on prevention and treatment of hepatitis B. Methods Serums of 962 non-local workers were collected and tested for the five HBV markers, namely HBsAg, HBsAb, HBeAg, HBeAb and HBcAb. Results 335 workers were found HBsAg positive. HBsAg positive rate was 34.82% (335/962), in which the positive rate of HBsAg in the male and female workers were 38.71% (204/527) and 30.11% (131/435), respectively. 217 workers (33.5%) were all negative for the five HBV markers. Conclusion The monitoring program of HBV infection in non-local workers should be strengthen. Immunization should be given to both HBV antigens and antibodies negative individuals. Health education should also be provided to the non-local workers.
