Hydrocarbon-generating Potential in Mesozoic Suibin Depression of Sanjiang Basin

Abstract

Using existing well drilling data of organic carbon and thermal decomposition in Suibin depression of Sanjiang basin,from the organic geochemistry aspect we conducted the research of hydrocarbon characteristic and hydrocarbon-generating potential of main coal-bearing source rock from Mesozoic of the depression.The results indicated that in research area vitrinite is the main organic maceral while abundant sporinite,exitinite and fluorescence,which have rich hydrogen components,in liptinite and saprope.The organic matters mostly are of III type and someⅡtype.The organic matter type of the Chenghezi group and the Muling group are relatively better,with two sets of source rocks having better hydrocarbon potential.The organic matter maturity of the hydrocarbon source rocks is high and the vitrinite reflectance varies from 0.5% to 1.0%,which means the major part of the hydrocarbon source rocks have entered the oil generation stage,and the partial hydrocarbon source rocks have been high mature-over mature and entered the gas generation stage.
