Abstract
In brief Muscular imbalances and decreased range of motion are the most common causes of chronic pain and reinjury following ankle sprain. Rehabilitation of the ankle after injury, operation, or immobilization reduces the risk of reinjury. Patients can construct and use one type of rehabilitation device—the rockerboard—to effectively increase ankle range of motion, proprioceptive feedback, neuromuscular coordination, and strength.
