Abstract

Objective To observe the acute toxicity of HuoXueDingXuan Pill(HXDX) on mice and its long-term toxicity on rats.Methods The maximum administration dosage(MAD) of HXDX was tested by gastric infusion of two times in mice.Three groups of rats were administered with repeated gastric infusion of HXDX for 6 weeks.Body weight, hematological and hematobiochemical parameters,coefficient and histomorphological figure of organs were examined in 6th week and 2 weeks after the cessation of HXDX.Results The maximum tolerance dose in a day was more than 148.8 g/kg(crude drug) which was equivalent to 663 times of clinical daily dosage(0.2242 g/kg).There is no significant difference in food,behavior,weight,hematological and hematobiochemical parameters,coefficient and histomorphological figure of organs between the experimental and the control group.Conclusion Toxicity of the drug was not observed in acute or chronic toxicity tests.
