Abstract
Objective:To study the expression of CD44v6,v9 and P53 protein in laryngeal carcinoma and their relationship with the occurrence, development and prognosis of laryngeal carcinoma. Methods: Immunohistochemistry was used to study 143 cases of laryngeal carcinoma tissues, 32 cases of precarcinoma tissues, 39 cases of vocal cords polypus and 9 cases of normal tissues adjacent to laryngeal carcinoma. Results: (1)The positive rate of CD44v6,v9 and P53 was 72.7%(104/143),56.6%(81/143) and 52.4%(75/143) in laryngeal carcinoma, and 37.5%(12/32),31.3(10/32)% and 21.9%(7/32) in precarcinoma, 17.9%(7/39),12.8%(5/39) and 10.3%(4/39) in vocal cords polypus,all negative in normal tissues adjacent to laryngeal carcinoma.(2) The over all positive rate of CD44v6,v9 and P53 was 41.3%(59/143) in laryngeal carcinoma tissues and 8.8%(7/80) in non carcinoma tissues.(3) The positive rate of CD44v6,v9 and P53 was 85.2%(69/81), 69.1% (56/81) and 62.9%(51/81) at the third and fourth stages of laryngeal carcinoma respectively, 56.5%(35/62), 40.3% (25/62) and 38.7% (24/62) at the first and second stages. (4) The positive rate of CD44v6,v9 and P53 was 85.7%(36/42),78.6%(33/42) and 73.8%(31/42) in laryngeal carcinoma with cervical metastasis respectively, 67.3%(68/101),47.5%(48/101) and 43.6% (44/101) in those without cervical metastasis.Conclusion: The high expression of CD44v6,v9 and P53 protein may be closely related to the occurrence, development and prognosis of laryngeal carcinoma.
