Abstract

3-D non-isothermal flows in three kinds of screw heads of co-rotating twin-screw extruder were simulated by using the finite element package Polyflow.Average temperature and temperature variance of output section were introduced to quantitatively evaluate the effects of temperature mixing of three types of screw heads.Combined FEM and orthogonal experiment design, the effects of different geometric parameters on temperature mixing in mixing screw head were analyzed, and the optimal geometry parameters combination of mixing screw head was obtained.
