Abstract

Buddhism moved Eastward in the late Eastern Han Dynasty;Community unrested in the Wei and Jin Dynasty.Bud-dhism was first accepted by the scribes and nobilities from those high up on the social ladder.From the Shi Shuo Xin Yu and theBiographyofEminentMonks,wecouldreceivemanystoriesbetweentheeminentmonksandcelebrities.Thearticleintended to find the historical background and ideological origins behind these stories in the Wei and Jin Dynasty.
