Abstract
Based on culture and semiotics, the paper aims at exploring Shen Congwen's cultural psychology. The present author argues that Shen's writing motivation as well as the unique cultural connotation and aesthetics of his novels, originated from the cultural psychology of the Miao people and his inferiority complex. This is the starting point of studying Shen's literary works.
