Abstract
Objective:To summarize the effectiveness of acupuncture and moxibustion as a therapy for Irritable Bowel Syndrome(IBS).Methods:RCTs were included,in which trials of acupuncture and moxibustion as a therapy for IBS in recent 10 years were extracted by computer and manual searching, for Meta-analyse.The methodological quality was assessed in accordance with the principles of EBM.Results:The fixed effect model was to be used and the tests for heterogeneity shows that there were no significant differences( χ2=9.32,P=0.41,P0.05 ),which means the effectsizes of the trials were homogeneous. We combined and estimated two groups' effectsizes,RR=1.28,(95% CI-1.20 to 1.38).Z test showed that the therapeutic effect of two groups were have significant differences (Z= 7.143,P0.00001),and the rhombus was located at the right side of the medium line. Conclusion:The therapeutic effect of acupuncture and moxibustion on Irritable Bowel Syndrome is superior to that of western medicine.
