Abstract

Lactococcus lactis is a typical representative bacterium of lactic acid bacteria. With the deepening research in molecular biology of Lactococcus lactis, recombinant Lactococcus lactis is extensively researched as a bacterial carrier in the field of animal husbandry and veterinary due to having prebiotic effects and using expression of exogenous functional proteins. Meanwhile,Lactococcus lactis also showed good potential in pig industry, which could provide a newway for the healthy development of pig industry. This paper reviewed the expression of exogenous products of recombinant Lactococcus lactis( epidermal growth factor, lactoferrin, etc.) for improving pig performance as well as a vaccine carrier for prevention and treatment of swine diseases.
