Clinical Echocardiographic and Pathologic Features of Primary Cardiac Lipoma

Objective:To investigate the clinical,pathological and echocardiagraphic features of primary cardiac lipomas.Method:The pathological and echocardiography data of 21 patients with cardiac lipomas were reviewed retrospectively.Result:①There were twenty patients(20/21,95.2%) whose tumors orginated from the interatrial septum,and two patients(2/21,9.5%)from miscellous parts.Only one case (1/21,4.8%)the tumor was detected in the posterior surface of ventricle during the operation.②Thirteen patients were performed echocardiography before getting the pathological data.But only three cases(3/13 23.1%,)were detected abnormalities in right atrium.③No symptoms were significantly related with tumors of the 21 patients.Conclusion:The diagnosis of primary cardiac lipomas is sometimes difficult because of their nonspecific clinical presentation.The diagnostic sensitivity of echocardiography is limited in lipoma patients.
