Abstract

Objective To observe the efficacy of esomeprazole-based triple therapy as the first-line treatment for Helicobacter pylori infection. Methods A total of 163 patients with helicobacter pylori infection confirmed by rapid urease test and 13C breath test was randomly divided into there groups.Esomeprazole 20 mg bid (group A),40 mg bid(group B) or 40 mg qd (group C) was used, which was combined with levofloxacin 500 mg qd and amoxicillin 1000 mg bid for 1 week. The eradication rates of Helicobacter pylori infection were tested with the methods of ITT and PP.ResultsThe eradication rates for groups of A,B and C were 82.98%,87.10% and 70.37% by ITT analysis, and were 86.67%,88.52% and 73.08% by PP analysis, respectively. The eradicaton rates of group B were higher than those of group C(P0.05).Conclusion Esomeprazole-based triple therapy as the first-line drugs for Helicobacter pylori infection can effectively improve the eradication rate.
