Abstract
With the presence of microwave radiation, butyl oleate was synthesized from oleic acid and n-butyl alcohol which were catalyzed by p-toluene sulfonic acid. The effects of the factors such as the level of radiation, reaction time, the amount of catalyst and the content of reactants, were discussed in this paper. The optimum conditions which were determined by a series of experiments should be as follow, the ratio of alcohol to acid 2.0:1,15 minutes reaction time, the amount of catalyst 1.4g(when the amount of oleic acid is 0.05 mol),the microwave power 680W,which could lead to a conversion of 92.4%.
