Abstract
Objective To observe the clinical effect of non-surgical periodontal therapy on patients with generalized aggressive periodontitis. Methods A total of 15 subjects diagnosed with generalized aggressive periodontitis were selec-ted.Non-surgical periodontal therapy, which consists of oral hygiene instructions, scaling and root planing(SRP),was performed on subjects with periodontitis.Roxithromycin combined with Metronidazole were prescribed during the treatment. The bleeding index(BI),probing depth(PD)and clinical attachment level(CAL)were recorded at baseline and 3,6,12,18 months after the periodontal therapy. Results BI,PD and CAL values at baseline were 3.37±0.56,(5.83±1.68)mm,(6.78±1.50)mm.And BI,PD,CAL values at 18 months after therapy were(0.69±0.48)mm,(2.15±0.45)mm,(4.60±0.78)mm,which were significantly lower than those at baselin(P=0.000,P0.01).Conclusion These results demonstrated that nonsurgical periodontal therapy is an efficient treatment for generalized aggressive periodontitis.
