Studies on the Ecological Function Regionalization in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area:The Case of Chongqing Section

Abstract
Ecological function regionalization is the foundation of the scientific management for the regional eco-environmental conservation and construction.The Three Gorges Reservoir Area of the Yangtze River(Chongqing section),which covers an area about 11 000 km~2,was taken as a case.By means of the ArcGIS database platform and its spatial analysis function,the regional ecological sensitivity(measured with RESI) and ecosystem service importance(measured with RESII) assessment were performed according to the established guidelines.Based on the result of quantitative assessment and the qualitative analysis of regional eco-environmental characteristics,the study area was divided into 3 eco-regions,11 sub eco-regions and 34 eco-functional zones.Correspondingly,the integrated managing countermeasures of the key regions were discussed.
