Abstract

Objective To explore a new method for genioplasty. Methods The bilateral prominent mandibular angle was resected through the intraoral approach. The resected bone fragments were reshaped and transplanted primarily to the chin, and then fixed rigidly with titanium nail. Results A total of 35 cases(33 females,2 males.) accepted genioplasty. The mandibular angle bone was used in all patients. The operative results were satisfactory, and the patient's facialcontour was improved substantially. Conclusion With strong fixation, and no rejection reaction was found postoperatively.Chin augmentation with autogenous mandibular fragments resected from mandibular angle is an ideal method for genioplasty.
