Vulnerability Assessment of Petroleum City's Economic System——A Case Study of Daqing City

Petroleum cities are confronted with a lot of serious social,economic and eco-environmental problems.Vulnerability analysis framework in sustainability science has many properties of multi-scale,multi-element,multi-flow and multi-cycle,which presents a new research paradigm for mining city.Based on a detailed discussion about the conception of economic system vulnerability(ESV),the essay establishes an economic system vulnerability assessment model of petroleum city from the aspects of sensitive to and response capacity for the gradual depletion of the regional mineable petroleum resources.Then the entropy method is used to evaluate the indicators and calculate their weights to assessment the ESV of petroleum city.Taking Daqing city as an example,the economic system vulnerability during the period of 2001-2006 is analyzed.Meanwhile other five petroleum cities in the same development stage are chosen from the Northeast,East,Middle and West to compare with Daqing.The results indicate that the ESV of Daqing city has shown a declining trend since 2001,but is still in vulnerability level.Comparing with other petroleum cities in the homeland,the ESV of Daqing in 2006 is lower than that in the West,higher than those in the Middle and East,and is closer to others in Northeast China.Finally,the essay provides some countermeasures and suggestions to reduce economic system vulnerability and is looking forward to providing reference to petroleum city's economy transformation.
