Abstract

Polystyrene/poly(methyl methacrylate) core-shell latex particles were prepared by seed emulsion polymerization.Persulphate(KPS) as initiator, styrene(St) as monomer,OP-10 as emulsifier, the seed core latex emulsion was prepared;the latex as seed, seed emulsion polymerization through continuous dropping methyl methacrylate(MMA) was occurred to obtain core-shell PS/PMMA composite latex particles in diameter 0.16~0.67 μm by enriching MMA at core surface. As St/MMA ratio is 30/70(mass fraction),particles diameter is 0.18 μm,particle diameter distribution is 0.012,and the differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) indicated that glass transition temperature(Tg) is 97.2 ℃ during melting process and curve showed only one peak. The composite latex particle is achieved well thermal property.
