Abstract
Seeds of different barley cultivars were treated with 0,4,8,12,16 and 20 mg/mL NaCl solutions to study their germination rate, germination index, vigor index, relative rates of salt injury and seeding growth. As the NaCl concentration increased, seed germination ability was inhibited. The germinations of 3 experimental cultivars were different under different levels of NaCl stress. When NaCl concentration was below 8 mg/mL,salt stress had no effect on seed germination;NaCl stress would inhibit the seedling growth at any concentration.Salt-tolerance of Jiangbei cultivars was the best, the second was Neimeng cultivars and the last was Australia cultivars.
