CT Findings of nasopharyngeal carcinoma with paranasal sinus involvement

To study the CT findings of NPC with paranasal sinus involvement. Methods CT findings in 69 patients of NPC with paranasal sinus involvement were reviewed. Results Soft tissue mass in the cavity of sinus and the destroyed sinus wall were found on CT images, In 254 Patients of NPC, paranasal sinus involvement was found in 69 patients (27% ), sphenoid sinus was invaded in 52, ethmoid sinus in 46 and maxillary sinus in 26. No frontal sinus involvement was found , There are two routes to invade sphenoid sinus and three routes to invade ethmoid sinus and four routes to invade maxillary sinus. Conclusions CT could demonstrate the manifestations of NPC with paranasal sinus in-vdvement, its extent and the invading route which is important for stoging and treatment.
