Abstract
Objective To study the reliability of genetic profile of 18 short tandem repeats (STR) loci in determining siblings. Methods The DNA was extracted from whole blood of three siblings and a suspicious one.Eighteen short tandem repeats loci were amplified with PCR, which were genotyped with electrophoresis separation on dPAGE.Results Five loci (D12S375, D8S1179, TH01, FGA and D21S11) were found, by which the suspicious was excluded from the three siblings. Conclusion The technique of short tandem repeats determination is suitable for the siblings’ identification.
